Adam Peaty and 'furious' Katya Jones 'in tears' backstage at Strictly after 'low marks'

According to The Sun, Adam Peaty, 26, and Katya Jones, 32, were left “in tears” and “shocked” after getting booted off Strictly Come Dancing 2021. The dancing pair found themselves at the bottom of the leaderboard on Saturday night and had to take part in Sunday’s tense dance-off against Tilly Ramsay, 20 and Nikita Kuzmin, 23.

Adam and Katya received 27 points from the judges for their 50s-themed jive.

Now a source claims the pair were “in tears” backstage, before being left “shocked” by their “devastating” elimination.

“Katya was absolutely furious during filming not just because the dance hadn’t gone as well as they hoped but by the low marks they received,” the insider told the aforementioned publication.

“Both Katya and Adam were in tears after a week in which they’d thrown their all into getting the routine right.”

Following his departure from the hit BBC show, Adam took to Instagram to reflect on his experience.

In view of his 592,000 followers, he penned: “What an experience @bbcstrictly has been. I’m so grateful for my time on this show, from the highs of performing in front of millions and the extreme challenge of learning a new routine within 3 days every week, it’s been incredible.

“I didn’t know how much it meant to me until I got a bit emotional after my dance off; however, I don’t think it was the dancing that pushed me over the edge, but the two years of the constant challenge with myself combined with the energy to win the Olympics and becoming a father at the same time.

“My emotions are one of my strongest attributes and I’m not ashamed to show that I’m human.” has contacted representatives for Adam Peaty, Katya Jones and the BBC for comment.

A Strictly source said: “Emotions often run high on Strictly as no one wants to go home and Katya and Adam were sad that their Strictly journey might be coming to an end. It was clear on the results show that they were visibly upset to leave the competition but they are both in good spirits now.”
