A recent poll has revealed that the majority of those who participated believe that Brexit has not been a success. The recent survey saw 7,057 British adults being asked the following question: “The EU transition period ended on December 31, 2020. Since then, do you think Brexit has gone well or badly?” Referring to the survey, Lord Adonis tweeted: “Poll just out.”
Looking in greater detail at YouGov poll, only 3 percent of participants believed that Brexit has gone “very well” for the UK.
In comparison, 30 percent of those asked the question believed Brexit had gone “very badly” for the UK.
A total of 52 percent thought Brexit had gone from either “fairly badly” to “very badly”.
For those who thought Brexit was more of a success 18 percent thought it had gone with “very well” or “fairly well”.
The results reflect the immediate effects of Brext which has caused a plummet in trade volume with the EU and red tape inhibiting goods and services at EU borders.
The sector that has been hardest hit by the consequences of Brexit is the fishing and shellfish industry.
A report from the Office of National Statistics stated discovered that UK Fish and shellfish exports fell by 83 percent in 2021.
YouGov surveyed 7,057 British adults on November 26, 2021.
