Professor Anthony Fauci has come under fire from critics in the United States after the US President’s top medical advisor announced the release of a new book on the coronavirus pandemic. Profesor Fauci has been slammed for the book deal which some have argued amounts to an attempt to “profit” from the pandemic. “Expect the Unexpected: Ten Lessons on Truth, Service, and the Way Forward,” is due out in November and explores the medical expert’s career fighting deadly diseases.
Fox News contributor Joe Concha said: “Dr Fauci I think his credibility is waining at this point because he is soo overexposed there has never been a microphone he did not like.
“Half the time he is doing interviews sharing his feelings you know hair standing on the back of your neck sort of thing instead of actual data, actual science.
“Look I think many in the country threw up in their mouth a little bit when they heard that Dr Anthony Fauci will be releasing a book on the pandemic.
“Thereby profiting off the pandemic.”
Mr Concha likened the book deal to that secured by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo who published ‘American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic’ in October.
The Fox News contributor said: “We should probably bundle this book, you know save a couple of bucks, with Andrew Cuomo’s book who got a £5 million book advance while the pandemic was still raging.”
He added: “You had Cuomo profiting off the pandemic a government official now we have Fauci doing it as well.
“I think this is appalling guys.”

A summary of Dr Fauci’s upcoming book has been released by Barnes & Noble reads: “With more than three decades spent combating some of the most dangerous diseases to strike humankind— AIDS, Ebola, COVID-19—Dr. Fauci has worked in daunting professional conditions and shouldered great responsibility.
“The earnest reflections in these pages offer a universal message on how to lead in times of crisis and find resilience in the face of disappointments and obstacles.
“Sure to strike a chord with readers, the inspiring words of wisdom in this book are centered around life lessons compiled from hours of interviews, offering a concrete path to a bright and hopeful future.”
Publishers National Geographic Books have reportedly told Fox News that Dr Fauci will not earn any royalties from the book.
