The prospect of Partey linking up alongside summer signing Albert Sambi Lokonga, who has broken into the team ahead of schedule, is an intriguing one.
Fellow summer signings Aaron Ramsdale, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Ben White and Martin Odegaard are also expected to feature – along with the Gunners’ first-choice front three of Bukayo Saka, Nicolas Pepe and Aubameyang.
That’s arguably one of the strongest line-ups that Arteta could field – and it’s certainly stronger than the ones that the former Manchester City man has been able to name so far this season.
Even if there have been mitigating factors such as absences to offset Arsenal’s poor form, Arteta will still be aware of the need to transform the Gunners’ fortunes – and quickly.
