A remainer has claimed the “ideology” behind Brexit is responsible for the deaths of thousands of Britons.
Femi Oluwole, political activist, posted a video on Twitter where he claimed “Boris Johnson has effectively admitted that BREXIT IDEOLOGY killed thousands of people during Covid“.
Using a clip of former Health Secretary Matt Hancock explaining how the UK’s Covid response was “based on the science”, Mr Oluwole said: “(This) means the Tories failure to lockdown on time was affected by their opinion of the public.”
He then used a clip of Boris Johnson in 2020 saying Covid restrictions weren’t brought in earlier as the UK is a “freedom-loving country”, before showing clips of the Prime Minister during the Vote Leave campaign where he said to “ignore the pessimists and the merchants of gloom”.
Mr Oluwole argued, both showed a failure to “save lives” and said: “Tory ideology was incompatible with what was necessary to save lives, and the Tories wrongly assumed that the entire country shared that ideology.
“And as a result we ended up with the worst excess death rate in all of Europe and 150,000 people dead.”
