Liz Truss has thrown down the gauntlet to the EU and issued a warning to Vice President of the European Commission, Maros Sefcovic regarding the Northern Ireland protocol.
The Government has warned the EU that the deal is causing friction to trade between Britain and Northern Ireland and threatens the Good Friday agreement.
Ms Truss has previously threatened to trigger Article 16, which would suspend parts of the protocol.
Writing on Twitter, the Foreign Secretary said: “Spoke to @MarosSefcovic. I was clear that the NI Protocol is not working. The UK Government’s top priority will always be to protect the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement.”
