Steve Brown went “ballistic” to witness the driver drag his blue Fiat Panda along the road in an industrial estate on Thursday. Steve, manager of a security manager on the estate in Crewe, Cheshire, claims truck drivers have been “dumping” trailers in and around the industrial estate where he works and coming back to collect them another day.
He said his car was parked legally in front of a trailer when the trucker took it upon himself to move his motor.
So the security boss took footage of the action, which he shared with Cheshire Live.
“I was absolutely ballistic, I just thought ‘I don’t believe this’ I was screaming at him,” Steve said.
“I park my car opposite Peugeot on Gateway.
“My car was parked in front his trailer and he decided he was going to put a massive rope and hook and drag my car away from his trailer which had been there for two weeks.
“It’s what they do. Another business owner has reported them to the council and they’ve done nothing.”
When Steve confronted the driver, he allegedly told Steve he used to be a recovery driver and there would be no damage to his car.
But Steve claims £500 of damage has been caused and he’s reported the behaviour to Cheshire Police.
Steve added: “I said ‘what do you mean there’s no damage?’. He pulled up in a heavy goods truck and put a massive rope and hook around my car and dragged it in gear.
“He dragged it about 10 feet. It’s bent my steering arm and messed up my gear stick.”
Steve claimed a police officer conducting a traffic stop nearby saw the truck driver’s act.
“He did that in front of a traffic cop, I’m surprised they did nothing.
“The police had pulled a car over at the back of the trailer.
“While they were dealing with the driver they pulled over, that idiot in a truck comes along and drags the car out in front of the police.”
Cheshire East Council and Cheshire Constabulary have been approached for comment.
