Former BBC royal correspondent Peter Hunt said the future King is close to becoming a “de facto prince regent”.

He claimed Buckingham Palace is keen to show the monarchy is “safe in the hands of father and son”.

This comes as Charles is set to stand in for the Queen at the State Opening of Parliament tomorrow.

Mr Hunt said it is a “significant moment for two future kings”.
