Eduardo Camavinga will reportedly turn down a contract extension with Rennes amid links to Chelsea and Manchester United. The 18-year-old’s agent Jonathan Barnett has recently admitted that the midfielder could be playing in the Premier League next term.
And they may be able to snap the teenager up on the cheap following his latest decision.
The Athletic claim Camavinga wants to move on when he contract expires in the summer of 2022.
But that may force Rennes into selling their starlet at the end of the season to avoid letting him walk away for free.
Camavinga started attracting interest when featuring in the Champions League earlier this season and he also scored a spectacular acrobatic goal on his France debut against Ukraine.
Rennes are hoping to tie Camavinga down to a longer deal but they want to include a high buy-out clause included, which the youngster is not keen on as it would hinter a future move.
The Athletic adds that Camavinga fears Rennes, who are seventh in the Ligue 1 table, could miss out on European football next term.
Chelsea are always on the lookout for the next best talent and their extensive loan system could be used to help develop Camavinga.
Alternatively, United have also proven under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that they are not afraid of giving youngsters a chance.
Mason Greenwood was promoted from the academy last season and 18-year-old Amad has been given opportunities this term after joining from Atalanta.
“But his character is amazingly strong. He is not your average 18-year-old.
“Playing in front of 100,000 people is not going to scare him. He’s a lovely boy and I think he’s going to be a superstar.”
