Coronation Street’s Abi Franklin star details why she ‘hates’ working with co-star

While they both star in the iconic ITV soap opera, Sally Carmen who played Abi Franklin revealed why she hates sharing a screen with her real-life fiance Joe Duttine who portrays Tim Metcalfe. With the Coronation Street duo soon to be married, there is a heartwarming reason behind her statement.

In a recent interview with the Daily Star, Sally confessed: “I hate working with [Joe].

“He’s a rotten man to work with because he makes me laugh to the point where I get that sweaty feeling because I can’t get a grip,” she added.

The actress confessed: “It’s painful, I’ll have gritted teeth and go, ‘Stop it!’, and he’ll say, ‘I’m not doing anything’. If I never have a scene with him again I’ll be alright with that,” Carman shared.

Although the love birds share a life away from the series, Sally disclosed she doesn’t want more scenes together: “I don’t work with him that much and I really don’t want to work with him.”

Joe and Sally first met working on Coronation street in 2018 and after hitting it off, the pair announced their engagement in 2020.

On being onscreen with her soon to be husband, she shared: “It’s because he makes me laugh, it’s horrendous.

“He’s the funniest man I’ve ever met, to the point where I get sweaty and everyone’s like ‘ugh, can you just get on with it?’ she continued.

The couple were set to walk down the aisle this year but postponed their wedding due to the Covid -19 pandemic.

Unlike Sally who joined the soap in 2017, her fiance Joe landed the role of Tim Metcalfe in 2014.

He was introduced as Faye’s (Ellie Leach) estranged father who regretted leaving her with her drug-addicted mother.

Their reunion initially didn’t sit well with Faye’s loved ones, however after he moved into Coronation Street, everyone began to get along.

While his storyline focuses on his relationship with his daughter it also went into his illegal marriage to Sally (Sally Dynevor).

Although his character has tied the knot, viewers can expect a ton of Coronation Street stars to be in attendance when Sally and Joe get married next year.

Elsewhere in the interview, the actress treated fans to a hint about the upcoming episodes by stating there “could be something you’ve never seen before from Coronation Street, that could rival the tram crash.”

Fans will have to stay tuned in to Coronation Street to see what could possibly be more shocking than the tram crash and to witness if Joe and Sally will be onscreen again.

Coronation Street airs on Wednesday at 7.30pm on ITV.
