Eddie Hearn details the four reasons 'average' Anthony Joshua lost to Oleksandr Usyk

“He will go again and he’s already talking about training on Monday.

“For me, that was an average performance from Anthony Joshua. He can do so much better in that fight, but he’s facing a pound-for-pound great.”

Indeed, it was a classy performance from his 34-year-old opponent who extended his unbeaten professional record to 19 wins.

Plenty were aware of his devastating skilset, as shown by his total dominance of the cruiserweight division, dismantling of Tony Bellew back in 2018 and initial success since moving up to heavyweight.

For Joshua, it means that his return to training will, in all likelihood, be geared towards defeating Usyk rather than ramping up for an all-British showdown with Tyson Fury as many anticipated.
