Voting closes across the UK on Thursday at 10pm, with the votes being counted overnight into Friday.

Friday 6 May, from 12am First results expected – early results likely to include Bolton in Greater Manchester, Newcastle-upoon-Tyne, South Tyneside and Wigan.

From 2am Sunderland vote to come through. Stevenage also expected.

From 3am First key results from London.

From 4am Two crucial results from the West Midlands – Dudley and Nuneaton and Bedworth.

From 5am Labour hoping to retake Southampton from Conservative control.

By 7am Final result due from Labour’s top target in London, Conservative-run Barnet council.
