Channel 4 announced on August 23 that Mary Cook had died aged 92. She was known for her appearances on Gogglebox with her friend Marina Wingrove.
The official statement announced by Channel 4 read: “We are extremely saddened to share that Gogglebox star Mary Cook passed away in hospital this weekend at the age of 92 with her family by her side.
“She will be dearly missed by the entire Gogglebox family, cast and crew.”
Tributes fled in from the public and fellow Gogglebox stars.
Sophie Sandiford wrote “Rest in Peace Mary”, while the show’s Jenny Newby and Lee Riley described her as “such a warm colourful character.”

Jim passed away in a car crash aged 44, and Graham sadly passed away in 2009 after over 30 years together.
The eulogy also spoke of Mary’s trips around the world including Jamaica, America, Malta, Ibiza and Egypt.
OK! reported that Mary will be buried in a plot next to her grandson, Alex Phillips.
Her grandson sadly passed away this year after a battle with pancreatic cancer at the young age of 46.
Mary was scouted for the show when she was seen outside an Asda by a researcher, according to her retirement home St Monica Trust.
She said: “I was going shopping, so I asked them to wait until we got back.
“They came up to Marina’s flat, held cards up of different famous people and we had to talk about them.”
The pair were absent from the programme because of the Covid pandemic, but returned for the May series finale.
