Lorraine Kelly told ITV viewers she “didn’t agree at all” with the Duke of Cambridge’s remarks over the space race during Thursday’s instalment of her show. It comes after Prince William took a veiled swipe at billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos launching a rocket made by his company during an exclusive interview with BBC Newscast’s Adam Fleming.
During the episode, Lorraine and space specialist Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock discussed Mr Bezos blasting off to the edge of space with Star Trek actor William Shatner and two other passengers on Wednesday.
The pair both expressed their excitement about the historic flight before moving on to The Duke of Cambridge’s comments about the space race.
They discussed the Duke’s interview, aired on Thursday’s instalment of BBC Breakfast, which saw him warn viewers “if we’re not careful we’re robbing from our children’s future through what we do now” as focus turns to the space race rather than tackling climate change.
However, Lorraine told her viewers she completely disagreed with William’s remarks from the interview.

Dr Maggie told Lorraine learning about space is “fundamental” and something “we must do”.
Despite her jab at Prince William’s comments, Lorraine admitted she could understand some of his points about the space race.
She said: “I hear what Prince William is saying and I understand, but I don’t think he is right at all. It is about both.”
The Duke of Cambridge said having children has made him “see the world differently” during his BBC interview.
He explained: “I want the things that I’ve enjoyed – the outdoor life, nature, the environment – I want that to be there for my children, and not just my children but everyone else’s children.
“If we’re not careful we’re robbing from our children’s future through what we do now. And I think that’s not fair.”
William added: “I want to use my little bit of influence/profile to highlight incredible people doing incredible things and will genuinely help fix some of these problems.”
Lorraine airs weekdays on ITV between 9am and 10am.
