US President Joe Biden has fired a stinging slap down at the UN amid a warning the United States is heading for a new Cold War with China. Mr Biden told the gathering of world leaders in New York on Wednesday that Washington was not seeking a global stand-off with America’s adversaries, though he did not mention China by name. The US President argued that America did not want to see a “world divided” and argued his government was willing to work with any nation that “steps up.”
President Biden told the UN assembly: “We are not seeking a new Cold War.
“Or a world divided into rigid blocks.
“The United States is willing to work with any nation that steps up and pursues peaceful resolution.”
It comes after the UN Secretary-General António Guterres earlier warned that the US and China were heading toward a new global confrontation.]
