Kate and William share heartbreak over tragic David Amess death 'shocked and saddened'

Sir David was stabbed multiple times at a meeting with constituents at Belfairs Methodist Church in Leigh-on-Sea in Essex at midday and died at the scene.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said they were “shocked and saddened” by the killing.

A post on their official Kensington Royal Twitter account said: “We are shocked and saddened by the murder of Sir David Amess, who dedicated 40 years of his life to serving his community.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and colleagues. W & C.”
