Kate Middleton ‘didn’t have energy’ to bond with Meghan Markle before wedding, book claims

New chapters of the book ‘Meghan: A Hollywood Princess’ by Andrew Morton are set to be released on October 14. There are several fresh claims about what really went on behind Palace walls, including one regarding Kate and Meghan’s relationship. Kate was diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum in all three of her pregnancies, a condition characterised by severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss and dehydration.

It was announced that the Duchess was pregnant with her third child, Prince Louis, in September 2017, two months before Meghan and Harry announced their engagement.

Louis was born on April 23, 2018, less than a month before the Duke and Duchess of Sussex tied the knot in St George’s Chapel in Windsor on May 19.

This meant that, through much of the wedding preparations, Kate was pregnant and having to deal with morning sickness.

In an updated version of Mr Morton’s book, he claimed this meant the two women had little time to get to know each other.

He wrote: “Kate and Meghan were neither sisters nor, like Fergie and Diana, friends before they joined the Royal Family.

“What is more, during the build-up to Meghan’s wedding, Kate was experiencing her third pregnancy and was focused on her own welfare.

“She did not have much energy to bond with her new neighbour.

“When they sat together in the royal box to watch the Ladies’ Singles Final at Wimbledon in July 2018, the two women were still getting to know each other.

She claimed it would not be fair on Kate to go into the details of exactly what happened, but did say that her sister-in-law apologised.

Mr Morton wrote in the new chapters for ‘Meghan: A Hollywood Princess’ that there was “little opportunity” for the two royals to develop a friendship away from public events.

He wrote: “It was a practical matter as much as anything.

“Kate spent weekends and holidays at Anmer Hall, the Cambridge’s country home in Norfolk, while Meghan and Harry were approximately three hours’ drive away, living in a large, remote, rented property on the Great Tew estate in Oxfordshire.

“Harry’s dream of two united happy families seemed a long way off.”

Meghan and Harry stepped down as senior royals last year and moved to Meghan’s native California.

Kate and Meghan have not seen each other since the Sussexes quit their roles, while Kate has seen Harry once at Philip’s funeral.

At the time of the funeral, Meghan was heavily pregnant and unable to travel.
