“Our aim is always to make the right decisions for this great football club, to protect it for the future and to take us forward. We didn’t make the right decision here, which we fully accept.
“We have heard you.”
The letter was signed, “The Arsenal Board,” with many fans on social media criticising Kroenke for his failure to attach his name to the statement, and demanding the American owner leave the club.
Arsenal goalscoring legend Ian Wright started the ball rolling when he simply tweeted “#KroenkeOut” and the hashtag has trended on social media as Gunners fans have shared their support for the movement to oust the owner, who has been at the club for 13 years.
One fan tweeted, “Stan Kroenke is the 100% owner of Arsenal. He is the Board. Yet he can’t even own the apology. Shameless. Not fit to own Arsenal.”
Another tweeted simply, “199k tweets of #Kroenkeout. Hope it happens.”
