Locke and Key will be back on Netflix with its second outing on October 22 and the three Locke siblings will head off on more mysterious adventures. The first season ended with Eden Hawkins (played by Hallea Jones) possessed after she was hit by a demonic bullet. Dodge (Laysla De Oliveira) and Ellie (Sherri Saum) also switched forms and fans are keen to know where the magical happenings take place.

Where is Locke and Key set?

The series was inspired by the comic books of the same name and it tells the story of three children and their mother who move into their father’s family home after he was murdered.

The children discover unusual keys in the house that can be used to unlock magical portals.

However, there is a demonic entity that is also in search of the keys and the siblings must protect them from falling into the wrong hands.

The series takes place in Matheson, Massachusetts, where the Keyhouse is based and the house had been in Rendell’s (Bill Heck) family for years.

An official trailer for the second series has been released and it shows Nina Locke (Darby Stanchfield) in therapy.

She is heard speaking about how she lost her husband and moved her children to the mysterious house.

She says: “I can’t move on from things that still make no sense to me,” as she struggles to come to terms with what she has seen.

The siblings start to realise the extent of what they have discovered after a few of the keys were identified.

But instead of making them more powerful, it has only made them more vulnerable.

Dodge explains how “it’s time to finish what I started” after they deceived the siblings by changing forms.

Where is Locke and Key filmed?

Filming for the series takes place in Toronto, with scenes of the fictional Matheson shot in Lunenburg – Nova Scotia.

The Keyhouse itself is a cleverly constructed set, and the scenes inside the house were shot at Cinespace Film Studios in Toronto.

Filming for the second season ended in April 2021 and fans will be pleased to hear work on season three has already begun.

Filming was scheduled to come to an end in September 2021, so more information should come to light soon.

Fans may recognise various landmarks including the Maple Leaf Tavern, Humber College Lakeshore Campus, and Ripley’s Aquarium of Canada.

Toronto has been used as the backdrop for many popular TV shows including Black Mirror, Schitt’s Creek, and Suits.

The stunning Nova Scotia provided some stunning shots, and scenes were filmed at Ovens Natural Park in Feltzen South.

Sadly fans are unable to visit the house itself as it is not a real building and has been created especially for the show.

Locke and Key season 2 airs on Netflix on October 22.
