Manchester United, Chelsea and Manchester City are all set to battle it out for Erling Haaland this summer, but face difficulties after Barcelona’s latest decision regarding Lionel Messi, reports suggest.
Barcelona officials have apparently made the decision to focus all their attention on Haaland this summer.
The Spanish giants are interested in the Norwegian wonderkid, but are £1billion in debt.
And as a result, the Catalans have decided they’ll sacrifice Messi in order to fund a move for the Borussia Dortmund ace, reports claim.
Barcelona are still yet to agree terms with Messi over a new contract, with the six-time Ballon d’Or winner set to become a free agent this summer.
The Argentine’s contract expires on July 1st, and reports suggest he’s been offered a whopping ten-year contract.
That contract involves him going out to play in Major League Soccer before returning in a backroom role.
But the contract he’s been offered would apparently involve him halving his wages, and it seems Barca are willing to let him go in order to get Haaland.
Club officials at the Nou Camp believe they’ll only get the chance to sign Haaland once, reports The Sun.
