West Ham and Liverpool are among the Premier League sides battling it out to be at Europe’s top table next term, while United have all but secured their place following their win over Burnley on Sunday.
United and Liverpool of course faced the threat of expulsion from UEFA competitions over their involvement in the European Super League, which collapsed on Tuesday night after all the Premier League’s ‘Big Six’ announced they would be pulling out.
News first emerged that Chelsea and Manchester City were looking to withdraw amid a fierce backlash from fans, pundits and governing bodies alike.
They were eventually followed by United, Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham with the controversial plans thrwarted just two days after they were announced.
In the meantime, United announced that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward would step down from his role at the end of this year.
