That has forced United to cast their net out further with Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane said to be an option with the France international entering the final year of his contract.
And it is claimed that RB Leipzig star Ibrahima Konate is also on United’s radar, who will be available for just £34m this summer.
Liverpool had emerged as strong contenders to sign Konate last month with reports suggesting the Anfield outfit were close to finalising a deal.
No such agreement has been announced though, suggesting Konate is still available and United may have a chance of swooping in at the final hour.
