Man Utd fans' furious reaction to woeful first half vs Atalanta

Manchester United fans made their feelings known with a chorus of boos at Old Trafford as their side went into the half-time break 2-0 down. The Champions League tie against Atalanta marks a crucial opportunity for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to shrug off speculation on his future, as well as push them towards knockout qualification, but the display during the first 45 minutes did not please the home crowd.

Eyebrows were raised when Solskjaer picked Harry Maguire to start at centre-back after a poor showing against Leicester City on Saturday.

Although not explicitly at fault, the England international had an unfortunate hand in both Atalanta goals which came from crosses into the box.

Mario Pasalic and Merih Demiral were the two players to notch for the away side, and although United had chances of their own to make a dent in the deficit, they lacked conviction.

Immediately after the boos, a chorus of ‘Red Army’ rang out around the ground to try and lift spirits before the second half.
