MyAnna Buring addresses getting 'prickly and precious' over interview query about her age

MyAnna Buring, who starred in Downton Abbey, has opened up about a previous interview, saying her comments have been “misconstrued”. It comes after the Swedish-born actress was asked to divulge her age.

The 42-year-old addressed an interview question where she appeared to be reluctant to reveal her actual age.

Her chat coincided with the release of the 2011 thriller flick, The Kill List.

The Witcher star had not given her real age and explained she liked to remain “anonymous”.

She has now shut down any suggestion she’s sensitive about her age and claimed her remarks were taken out of context.

The small-screen star went on to explain that she does not like how female actors are considered disposable as they get older compared to their male counterparts, whose roles tend to improve with age.

“It’s a stigma that needs to be broken. The older I am, the meatier parts I get,” she added.

“Stories that actually reflect women of my age.”

MyAnna has enjoyed an illustrious acting career appearing in various shows including Downton Abbey, Ripper Street, The Witcher and The Salisbury Poisonings.

She is set to star in a new romantic series called One Night.

Over the course of ten episodes, it follows 27-year-old waitress Elizabeth (played by MyAnna) and Jonas (Gísli Örn Garðarsson), a 35-year-old carpenter, on a blind date in Oslo.

Events play out between the pair after a reluctant Elizabeth decides to go on a dinner date with him.
