“Manifest,” the NBC drama about a plane that mysteriously returns after vanishing five years earlier, has been grounded.
NBC Monday canceled the show, deciding not to go ahead with a fourth season a week after the drama’s Season 3 finale, stirring a strong online reaction from fans who want the show to continue.
Series creator Jeff Rake, told those fans, whom he referred to as “Manifesters,” that he was hoping to find a new home for the series, which tracks the lives of the passengers and crew of Montego Air Flight 828.
“My dear Manifesters, I’m devastated by NBC’s decision to cancel us. That we’ve been shut down in the middle is a gut punch to say the least. Hoping to find a new home. You the fans deserve an ending to your story. Thanks for the love shown to me, cast, and crew. #savemanifest,” Rake tweeted about the series, which is produced by Warner Bros. Television and Universal Television.

The “Manifest” decision comes just days after NBC canceled “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” after its Season 2 finale. No renewal decision has been made about “Good Girls,” another NBC series that has been on the cancellation bubble.

Besides Rake, the show’s stars supported efforts to revive the show. Stars Josh Dallas, Melissa Roxburgh, Luna Blaise, J.R. Ramirez and Parveen Kaur all tweeted the #savemanifest hashtag, with Blaise telling supporters that they are “in my feels tonight from all the love and support.”
Another star, Athena Karkanis, raised the possibility that Netflix, where the series can be streamed, may come in for the rescue, as it has in the past. “NBC may have let Manifest go, but there is still hope Netflix will pick it up. Make some noise fans!!!” she wrote on Instagram.
Garrett Wareing, who played TJ Morrison on Season 2, tweeted that he’s “beyond happy to have been part of the Manifam.”
“This show wouldn’t be complete without you guys and I’m so honored to have been part of this flight with y’all,” Wareing wrote. “Thank you for loving TJ with all you got…. means more than you know!
