Prince William melts hearts with romantic nod to Kate in Instagram video– did you spot it?

The Duke of Cambridge took part in a Q&A session on Instagram Stories on Friday where he discussed his ambitious prize to find solutions to the planet’s environmental problems. Eagle-eyed royal fans may have noticed a sweet nod to the Duchess of Cambridge in the background of the video at Kensington Palace.

A framed picture could clearly be seen of a snap William and Kate released to mark their engagement in 2010.

In the photo, the grinning couple embrace as Kate shows off her glittering engagement ring.

The framed image is displayed on a wooden table and could be seen in the background behind William’s right shoulder.

And to the Duke’s left, there was a picture of Prince George and Princess Charlotte in their school uniforms.

William’s Instagram appearance came ahead of his Earthshot Prize awards ceremony which took place last night.

The Duke and Duchess put on glamorous displays, with Kate wearing an Alexander McQueen gown she previously wore in 2011.

Meanwhile William wore a dark green velvet blazer and a black polo neck.

During the event at Alexandra Palace in north London, winners were announced from five categories.

“But for too long, we’ve neglected our wild spaces and now we’re facing a number of tipping points.

“If we don’t act now, we will permanently destabilise our planet and we will rob our children of the future they deserve.”

At the end of the evening, broadcast on the BBC, William took to the stage to tell the audience: “I want to say something to the young watching tonight.

“For too long, we haven’t done enough to protect the planet for your future, the Earthshot is for you.

“In the next 10 years, we are going to act. We are going to find the solutions to repair our planet.

“Please keep learning, keep demanding change, and don’t give up hope. We will rise to these challenges.”
