During an event to celebrate the work of Dame Imogen Cooper at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, a closer look at the photographs on display in the background showed a shot of Peter Philips and his ex-wife, Autumn, among the family portraits. Dame Cooper was presented with the Medal for Music by Her Majesty, 95, which is “awarded to an outstanding individual or group of musicians who have influenced the musical life of the nation,” the Royal Family shared via social media.

Publicising the event on Twitter, the Royal Family said: “The Queen presented the celebrated pianist Dame Imogen Cooper with Her Majesty’s Medal for Music today, in an Audience at Buckingham Palace.”

But looking behind Dame Cooper and the Queen inspecting the medal together, a framed photograph appears to show Peter Phillips and his now ex-wife, Autumn.

Peter Phillips, 43, is the son of the Queen’s daughter, Princess Anne, and is the monarch’s eldest grandchild.

The couple met in 2003, at the Montreal Grand Prix in Canada, where Autumn grew up.

They held their wedding in St George’s Chapel, Windsor, in May 2008.

The two have since had two children together: Savannah, 10, and younger sister Isla, who is nine.

Peter and Autumn had been living separately since 2019, but officially announced their separation in February 2020.

In June this year, the pair released a joint statement detailing the resolution of the nitty-gritty of their divorce.

Despite their separation, the image of the now-separated couple still sits amongst other members of the Royal Family.

Peter’s younger sister, Zara, 40, also features pride of place in the Queen’s collection.

A black and white photograph of her wedding to Mike Tindall in 2011 sits in the background of Wednesday’s photographs – a celebration which was attended ten years ago by the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh, and Princes Harry and William.

Nearby, this shot is accompanied by a framed image of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

The photograph shows the Duke and Duchess a blue suit and a fitted pastel dress, respectively.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also smile out from the photo collection, their official portrait standing on a nearby table.

The photograph was taken when they announced their engagement in 2010 ahead of their wedding the next year.
