Queen's recent health scare 'not too concerning' despite cancelling engagements

However, a royal expert has claimed Her Majesty’s recent health issues are “not too concerning”, despite the Queen’s overnight stay at a London hospital. The 95-year-old monarch reportedly fell ill at the end of last month when doctors were called to her living quarters at Windsor Castle on October 19.

The medics advised the monarch to call off her Northern Ireland tour and just two days later Buckingham Palace issued a statement revealing Her Majesty had been hospitalised for tests.

The statement read: “Following medical advice to rest for a few days, the Queen attended hospital on Wednesday afternoon for some preliminary investigations, returning to Windsor Castle at lunchtime today, and remains in good spirits.”

According to reports, the monarch visited the private King Edward VII’s Hospital in central London, about 19 miles (32km) from Windsor.

The Queen has since cancelled her appearance at the climate summit COP26 and several other engagements as it was revealed that she won’t be attending the annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall on November 13.

Despite the recent health scare, the Queen is said to be in “good spirits” and it was revealed she left Windsor Castle by helicopter to spend the weekend at her Norfolk estate, Sandringham.

A royal source told the Mirror: “The Queen had been hoping she would still be able to spend the weekend at Sandringham and was delighted her doctors gave her the all-clear to travel.

“Her Majesty is very much looking forward to hosting her family at her Norfolk home for the Christmas holiday and there is much preparation to be done in time to accommodate everyone who has been invited.

“The Queen has many happy memories of being at Sandringham with the family over Christmas and was in the firm belief that she was far better off being there in person to oversee everything as much as possible.

“But she travelled on the understanding with her doctors that she continues to rest as advised.”
