Question of Sport outrage as dancer Anton du Beke joins line-up: ‘Clue is in the title!'

The revamped Question of Sport continued on BBC One on Friday evening as Paddy McGuinness welcomed back team captains Ugo Monye and Sam Quek onto the show. However, in a break of the show’s typical format, Friday’s line-up of contestants wasn’t made up of solely sportsmen and women as Strictly Come Dancing star and keen golfer Anton du Beke joined Sam’s team. However, with such a drastic change to the rules, it’s safe to say loyal viewers weren’t happy.

“Anton Du Beke, the clue is in the title, the programme is finished,” Matt vented on Twitter upon seeing the line-up. “David Colman would be turning in his grave!!”

Phil echoed the outrage as he weighed in: “Somebody please tell me how that geezer Anton something from Strictly is allowed to be on Question of Sport?!!!”

“A comedian hosting Question of Sport? A dancer from Strictly as a guest? What happened to this show,” Artezzy also questioned of the revamped show.

Toby was the fourth to comment: “I have always loved @QuestionofSport but the @bbc have really ballsed this new series up.”

While Steve simply quizzed the decision: “A ballroom dancer? #questionofsport.”

“This is completely unwatchable..” Chris added to the debate. “What has happened to #questionofsport and what is Anton Du Beke doing on there??!!!”

And David agreed: “Why on earth is Anton Du Beke on question of sport. I thought this program was supposed to be for sports stars.”

However, @welshlady987 argued: “Loving the new format , less stuffy & impressed with Anton’s sport knowledge   #questionofsport.”
