'Quite lucky' Princess Eugenie’s son August finds doting Sarah Ferguson ‘very funny’

Queen Elizabeth II’s great-grandson is the oldest of the four royal babies to arrive in 2021. Eugenie, 31, and husband Jack Brooksbank, 35, welcomed their first child in February at London’s Portland Hospital.

Sarah Ferguson, 61, has offered insight into the bond she is developing with August.

The Duchess of York also described her daughters, Eugenie and Beatrice, as “wonderful mothers”.

Princess Beatrice, 33, had her first child, Sienna Elizabeth, in September.

Fergie told Hello!: “I look at my girls being wonderful mothers and then I see these incredible beings – and it’s so funny because when August smiles at me now, because he’s seven and a half months old, you actually know he genuinely likes you.

“The sisters seem incredibly close as it is, but going through similar experiences when it comes to feeding, sleepless nights and slowly getting used to motherhood is an incredibly raw and emotional experience that will be a treasured time for the sisters.

“Post-pandemic we are still seeing lower levels of support for new mothers as things start to slowly open back up again, so having each other to confide in and spend time with is going to be wonderful for the sisters and will strengthen the baby cousins’ relationship.”

Her Majesty, 95, is no doubt proud of her ever-expanding family tree.

In March, Lucas Tindall was born to proud parents Zara and Mike Tindall. Lucas is the third child of Zara, 40, and Mike, 42.

Prince Harry, 37, and Meghan Markle, 40, welcomed Lilibet Diana in June.

The Queen, who has been nicknamed ‘Gan-gan’ by heir to the throne and grandson Prince George, eight, likes to keep a close eye on the younger family members.

She was one of the first – at her request – to visit Kate and William after the birth of Charlotte, now aged seven.

And, with Prince Edward and Sophie Wessex located just 11 miles away from Windsor Castle at Bagshot Park – the monarch often sees grandchildren Lady Louise, 17, and James, Viscount Severn, 13.

She treated her US-based great-grandson, Archie, to a waffle maker for Christmas.
