Stadium stand collapses as bouncing Vitesse fans plummet in front of jubilant squad

The Goffertstadion was rebuilt into a modern stadium at the turn of the millennium, with the seats covered and heated, and the first match was played in September 1999, with its grand reopening taking place in January 2000.

There weren’t thought to be any concerns over the safety of any stands before Sunday’s match.

Vitesse have been in fine form in recent weeks and Sunday’s win means they are now unbeaten in their last four league matches.

That run began last month, with a 1-0 victory at FC Groningen, before the side battled to a 1-1 draw at home to Fortuna Sittard.
