Still being rude! Angela Rayner in stitches as Starmer brands Boris Johnson 'a tool'

The Labour leader’s comments came as Sir Keir told the audience how his father worked as a toolmaker and was a dedicated professional which is where he claimed his belief in hard work is rooted. And in a backhanded swipe at Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Sir Keir suggested his father Stanley Johnson could be considered a “toolmaker” himself.

He told the audience: “My dad was a toolmaker.

“Although in a way, so was Boris Johnson’s!”

His comments sparked raucous applause as Labour’s Deputy Leader Angela Rayner could be seen in fits of laughter.

It comes as Ms Rayner herself made a series of controversial comments about the Prime Minister at a fringe event at the party conference on Saturday.

Speaking at the event, The Deputy Labour leader hammered: “We cannot get any worse than a bunch of scum, homophobic…

“Racist, misogynistic, absolute vile…

“Banana republic, vile, nasty, Etonian … piece of scum.”

Ms Rayner added that she had “held back a little” with the comments.
