The Mandalorian's Ginacarlo Esposito lands huge Netflix role amid season 3 uncertainty

The loyal baby Yoda fans were left confused after misinterpreting an announcement for season three of The Mandalorian. With a premiere date yet to be released, Moff Gideon star Giancarlo Esposito recently landed a role in Netflix’s new heist drama.

According to Netflix the upcoming heist drama could be a series unlike what viewers have seen before.

As it’s set to take a “nonlinear approach to storytelling in a way where viewers are in control.”

Titled Jigsaw, the show will be based on a true story of the $70 billion that disappeared during Hurricane Sandy.

Starring alongside Giancarlo Esposito will be Paz Vega, Rufus Sewell, Tati Gabrielle, Peter Mark Kendall, Rosaline Elbay, Jai Courtney, Jordan Mendoza and Niousha Noor.

Although there is excitement from fans about the upcoming Netflix series, many of Giancarlo’s were left wondering if he would return to The Mandalorian.

The confusion began after Disney broke the internet with multiple announcements at its Disney Investor Day 2020.

They revealed their plans to launch an almost overwhelming number of Star Wars, Disney live-action, Disney Animation and Pixar titles expected to air in the next few years.

With the possibility of up to 10 different Star Wars series in its huge expansion, The Mandalorian season three was confirmed.

While Moff Gideon (played by Giancarlo Esposito) didn’t appear much in season two, it’s still yet to be said if he will star in the upcoming season.

However, fans were looking forward to finding out more about the mysterious character after it was revealed he was the Imperial leading the hunt for The Child at the end of season one.

In 2020, the actor spoke to Entertainment Weekly and on the topic of season three, he revealed: “Maybe you’ll get an inkling of what he wants.

“He’s playing a long game and I think that’s why you see me interspersed in this season the way I am,” he added.

As fans wait to find out more about The Mandalorian, Giancarlo’s upcoming Netflix drama Jigsaw is set to be an eight-part series.

Deadline reported Jigsaw was currently filming at Netflix Studios in Brooklyn, making it the first production at the company’s new Bushwick studio.

Surrounded with a vengeance, scheming, loyalty and betrayal Jigsaw is set to portray the largest heist ever attempted.

With eight parts the show will range from 24 years before the heist to one year post-heist.

The Mandalorian seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Disney+.
