Tottenham have reached out to the representatives of Athletic Club manager Marcelino to sound out his availability ahead of this summer, reports claim. The Spanish tactician has made an impressive impact since taking over at the San Mames earlier this year, guiding the club to the Copa del Rey final.
Marcelino is renowned for his nous and attention to detail and has also previously worked at Sevilla, Villarreal and Valencia respectively.
He won the Copa del Rey during his time at the Mestalla, while also guiding Villarreal to the Europa League semi-finals where they were beaten by Liverpool in 2016.
This is not the first time the 55-year-old has been lined up for a Premier League job.
Back in December 2019 he was interviewed for the Arsenal hot-seat and was amongst the candidates to replace Unai Emery.

Daniel Levy will now take his time to find the right man to lead Spurs forward after parting company with Jose Mourinho on Monday.
Ryan Mason has been appointed as caretaker boss until the end of the season, allowing Levy to focus on Tottenham’s future.
Julian Nagelsmann is believed to be Tottenham’s primary target although Spurs face strong competition from Bayern Munich.
The German boss does look set to leave RB Leipzig at the end of the season, with Bayern keen on bringing him in as Hansi Flick’s replacement.
Any club looking to appoint Nagelsmann would have to pay Leipzig over £10million in compensation though.
Tottenham do have other alternatives in mind including Wolves’ Nuno Espirito Santo.
The club are also believed to be weighing up the idea of bringing in a Sporting Director to support the manager upstairs.
Former Spurs and England midfielder Mason takes charge of his first game as boss tonight with Tottenham host Southampton.
