Ms Psaki desperately defended the track record of Mr Biden as she was hounded by reporters over the multiple crises the president has presided over including the withdrawal from Afghanistan and the USA’s snubbing of France in the Aukus pact which triggered the recalling of French ambassadors from the country. She appeared to claim to be unaware of which countries have criticised the President as she insisted Mr Biden is committed to tackling the “biggest challenges” in the world.

Ms Psaki was asked by one reporter: “Given what has happened in recent weeks and some of the criticism that he has faced in many of the capitals of the allies whose partnerships he vowed to reinvigorate…

“Does he believe there is work to be done to restore that credibility?”

Ms Psaki slammed back questioning which countries have questioned the USA’s credibility in the world as she launched a defence of Mr Biden’s diplomatic record.

In a desperate defence of the president, she claimed how criticism of a decision “is different” from criticism of the credibility and leadership of the United States.

The Press Secretary added: “If you look back through the course of the last several decades, prior to the last administration, there are points of disagreement.”

She insisted that the larger issue at play is that Mr Biden is “committed to those alliances” and how such commitments always require work from every President and global leader.

Ms Psaki went on to claim how Mr Biden’s commitment is to focus the USA’s energy, resources, diplomacy and efforts on the “biggest challenges” the USA is facing in the world.

She added how those are the “threat of climate, the threat of democracy, the importance of levelling the economic playing field”.

The new partnership was announced during a joint virtual press conference between US President Joe Biden, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison on Wednesday.

Mr Biden has also faced a raft of criticism in recent months following the deadly withdrawal from Afghanistan as the Taliban have retaken control after 20-years of western intervention in the country.

The withdrawal left 13-US military personnel and hundreds of Afghan’s dead over days of chaos at Kabul airport as western nations desperately fled the Taliban amid a wave of suicide attacks and stampedes.

Mr Biden has also been slammed for a US-airstrike aimed at terror group ISIS-K which ended up killing numerous innocent Afghan civilians including children.
