‘Would've been the end’ Sara Davies on Strictly setback which left her feeling ‘rubbish'

Dragons’ Den star Sara Davies has admitted she was left feeling utterly “rubbish” following her debut performance with Strictly pro Aljaz Skorjanec which saw them fail to impress the BBC show’s judges. Appearing on Tuesday’s instalment of Loose Women, the businesswoman revealed what she thinks saved her from being kicked out of the competition first.

Sara and Aljaz have come on leaps and bounds since the first episode of Strictly 2021 aired.

Although they hit the bottom two in the first week, they have gone on to dazzle the judges with their Foxtrot and Samba.

Sara, who became one of the investors in Dragons’ Den in 2019, appeared on Loose Women to chat about her Strictly Come Dancing experience.

The star added: “When I do something, in business, I have always found the harder I work, the better I get at it.

“And I felt like I worked really hard in that first week and clearly my best wasn’t good enough.

“And I just found a little bit of gall from somewhere else, and it wasn’t necessarily from doing longer hours, and I don’t think I even worked harder.

“I just found the inner strength to sort of plough on and go for it.”

Sara’s determination has clearly paid off, with the tycoon scoring her highest marks of the series last weekend.

She and partner Aljaz scored an impressive 36 points for their Tango, and she received nines across the board from the judges.

Longstanding Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood even called the star’s Tango to Por Una Cabeza by Carlos Gardel “spectacular”.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One this Saturday and Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV.
